About Me

I am a reference librarian, a subject specialist, in a public library. My specialism is “family history’.

Probably about 30-40 percent of my job is outreach. Yes, really. Reference librarians do outreach too!

What do I mean by outreach? Seminars, presentations and workshops out in the community.

Getting out from behind the traditional reference desk, is fun and rewarding. I believe it gives me a different perspective than being restricted to a library building, and allows me the opportunity to provide innovative customer service.

I love training customers and staff , almost as much as I enjoy research. I enjoy trying new things and I get excited by innovation.

This is a library focused blog, where I blog about library stuff  – I also blog at Hunting Ancestors, where I write about my family history research.
